my leg day workout + who's climbing with me?
Hi!! Today was leg day, and here is what I did:
The squats were 1 1/2 rep high bar squats, which destroyed my quads and hamstrings (in the best way possible). I did the hip ups with a small, strong band around my knees so that I would not only drive my hips and glutes up with power, but drive my knees out. Add a 2 sec pause/squeeze at the top and the burn was unreal. You can check my IG for that video clip :)
I'm using the fitlist app to keep track of my training for now, until my GymGypsy fall training journal comes in! I can't wait because I am more of a paper and pen/check it off person for stuff like this, rather than just having it on a screen. I can't wait and I will show you guys my pages in the training journal often!
After my lift, I had nonfat plain Chobani Greek yogurt with bananas and frozen blueberries. I haven't been craving my egg whites right after training lately, but a lot of times, I have them later on in the day. My smoothie bowls, funfetti pancakes, protein shakes, and now Greek yogurt are taking the place of the egg whites early on, and all are delicious and get me the carbs and protein I need right after I workout.
My friend came over with her super cute, little one year old girl this morning. She brought me these bright, summery flowers and we had a nice visit!
Then I went to get my nails done. My favorite shade of pink right here...
Leg day meant double the funfetti pancakes for lunch, with a protein milkshake on the side.
For dinner, we made barbecue rubbed chicken, summer squash, zucchini, and I had some baby carrots for the crunch. I am absolutely loving having my chicken pre-weighed and labeled, which saves a lot of time and thought when it comes time to make dinner. You can bet I will be doing this from now on!
A reader asked if I am still having my casein at night, and the answer is YOU BETCHA! Casein and peanut butter is my bedtime ritual, but you haven't been seeing it lately because I have been posting my blog before that time. Mike and I have implemented a little rule of turning off our devices by 7:30ish each night. With my nutrition coaching business and the blog, I could easily keep working all night long, but that is not going to work for my/our lifestyle! So, that's why you don't see it as often these days :) Also, remember that I don't always post everything I eat throughout the day, it really just depends if I take pictures or not, or if I decide to write about other stuff instead.
Tomorrow is a cardio day and I'm looking forward to a real good sweat. Does anyone else love the Matrix Climber?? I see the #thirtyminutestairgang on Instagram, so I know those friends do, but what about you guys?? I put it on "Interval Training" Level 10, and see the three tallllllll green lines? They are NO JOKE and I seriously fear each one. So, that will be fun to start my Friday! Hopefully I don't have to pause it tomorrow!
Hope you had a great day! See you tomorrow! (Rubes and Bo say "Hey!" too!!)
