i heart mondays + my new NEW training schedule

Ahhh, Monday. I love Mondays. And not just in the summer, all year round. I really do. They are a fresh start, I usually feel very "put together" on a Monday. But, my goal this year is to make every day feel like a Monday, and I will do that by making sure my work and everything that I need to prepare for the following day is done by the time I go to bed each night. It's definitely worth the little bit of extra time to feel calm and prepared. 

Society has taught us that Mondays are fresh starts, new months are fresh starts, new years, and so on. But, really, every single breath is a chance to start over completely. How amazing is that if you really practice it, put it into action. It's definitely something to be more mindful of, that is for sure. 

Yesterday I mentioned that I have figured out a new training approach/split/schedule that seems to be making me really happy and feel really good. It just feels very manageable, fun, and ideal for me right now. I am doing a 4 day bodybuilding split, and 3 days of cardio. The four lifting days are pretty tough and are split like this: chest + biceps (day 1), back + abs (day 2), shoulders, triceps, abs (day 3), and legs + glutes (day 4). One of the cardio days will be added on top of my lift on day 2 or 3, so that has me training, in some form, six days a week. This is a pretty big change, though, going from lifting 6 days a week, doing zero cardio, and taking one pure, complete rest day since the beginning of this year. A very welcomed change. 

So, Mondays are cardio-only days because I realized that I like starting my week off in a low-key, zone-out, sweat-your-face off kind of way. Today I DID have to pause the Matrix Climber after my last realllllly hard interval because I literally could not catch my breath or feel my legs, which are still crushed from Friday, by the way :(

When we got home, I made a Funfetti pancake because they are clearly my new favorite thing, along with a protein/almond milk shake for breakfast. 

I didn't leave my house once after coming home from the gym today. I think that may be a first!!! I kept working away today and bothered my friend/graphic designer all day as she created some beautiful things for me and I kept adding to her list! I said it a couple weeks ago, but I have learned to outsource anything technology/graphic design related because it saves me so much time and people are SO good at it and somehow create exactly what I envision. 

I had egg whites and a pear on the porch and the lazy dogs didn't even want to join me.

Seriously, I walked inside and found Bo basically snuggled up under the runner! Weirdo to the max. 

Mid afternoon, I made a peanut butter and jelly roll up on Joseph's Lavash bread. My gigantic water is never far from my side, either. 

I made grilled buffalo rubbed chicken, spinach/cucumber/carrot/tomato salads, and sautéed summer squash and zucchini for dinner. I could eat this exact meal every day/night... so good.

I'm about to go hang out and catch up with Mike, and enjoy the fact that every single piece of laundry in the house is done and put away....
