the day i turned 32

Hello!!! When I woke up this morning, it took me a minute to realize that it was my birthday! I went downstairs and found some nice gifts from my parents, and Mike gave me this great card (he may be trying to make up for not getting me a Valentines Day card ;)

I've gotten a couple questions about my intrashake, so this morning, I took a picture of what I use to make mine.

I use this carb powder (they just changed the packaging recently). It's unflavored and I like how it is JUST carbs, no sugar- I'm not anti sugar or anything, but I like how this is simply carbs. I mix it with whatever whey protein I want and ice water and it dissolves really quickly. I don't use a huge shaker of water because I don't want a ton of liquid in my stomach as I'm pushing or pulling hundreds of pounds! I use different amounts of carbs depending on my training for the day (between 25 and 50g most days) but consistently use 15g of protein.

With my shake all ready, it was time to lift!!! I had some heavy sets of incline bench and then back off sets. I also had heavy deadlifts on my program, but decided that it was my birthday and I wanted to try and work to a heavy single (my coach doesn't get upset about this because he knows I am smart and listen to my body!!) I was not feeling fresh at all and pretty much all of my parts are sore, but I ended up at 330lbs (see Instagram for more on this!)  I'm just really happy because I've been mentally stuck with deadlifts for awhile and my max was 315-320 for literally a year and a half. Since the fall, my coach has been really working with me to strengthen my glutes, hamstrings, core, and back, and things are starting to work!!

After that, I had good mornings, a chin up variation, overhead dumbbell presses. It was a great birthday lift and an excellent way to start my 32nd trip around the sun! 

After I showered and got ready for school, I had overnight snickerdoodle protein oats with sugar free syrup because it's delicious.

For my lunches today, I kept it so super simple. Greens and turkey. For my carbs, I had 1/2 of this cookie with each meal. I'm all out of Ezekiel bread and needing it ASAP!!!

I keep extra vitamins my car because I always forget to take them. It's not until I'm pulling out of the driveway that I think to take them, so keeping them in the car helps with this!

When I got to school, I walked in to the nicest gift ever from the most thoughtful friend ever! Like seriously how nice is this!?  I'm constantly surprised at how well this girl knows me already and I don't know if I know anyone more thoughtful than her! Made my day <3

After school, we had a staff meeting which kind of wasn't that fun, but at least it was quick! Then I went for a birthday pedicure because maybe having fresh toe nails will make the warm weather come faster?!

Mike made dinner- Australian grass fed beef tenderloin and roasted broccoli. We have this once a week and it's so so good!

And not long after, I had my casein milkshake. This Dymatize chocolate casein is my favorite brand and flavor. I highly recommend it if you're looking for casein!
