Hi!

Welcome to my blog where I give you a peek into how I live my healthy, happy life!

what i'm...

Laughing at...

myself. If you follow me on IG or saw me in real life this week, you probably know why. Thursday morning at 4:40, my alarm went off and I shot out of bed like usual. I guess I don't really open my eyes when I get up, I just shuffle my way to the bathroom as soon as I get up (it's right across the hall from our bedroom). Well, I either shuffled a little too much to the left, or our door was a little more shut than usual, because I walked face first into the corner of the door. I fell right to the ground in serious pain (having a lot of muscle=having a lot of power in everything you do :) My head, eyebrow, and shoulder/collarbone hit that door HARD! Then I felt the blood start gushing out of my face and really freaked out. I think I had a mini concussion because I couldn't see, started sweating like crazy, was super dizzy, and almost got sick. It was pretty awful. After googling things about concussions and lifting weights, I decided not to listen to anything, got myself together, and went out to the garage and actually had a great workout. Blood was still coming out the whole time, and for most of the day, but I'm ok.

Eating...

mostly the same things as always, but I have some new favorites. Instead of PB2 and syrup on my warm pita, I've been putting a tiny bit of lite butter and cinnamon and sugar. It is soo good!

My internet friend and maybe someday real life friend, Ali (fitgirlmoves) inspired this delicious waffle topping: strawberry protein frosting! I just put a little bit of my strawberry cake protein powder and mixed in a little water to get the consistency I wanted. It was really good!

SHRIMP?!? I just learned that I really like (cooked) shrimp! Mike made this for dinner tonight: roasted broccoli, shrimp cooked in garlic and Frank's Red Hot, and brown rice. It was SO good! He's happy to add another lean protein to our weekly rotation, and I'm happy because I "don't know how" to cook it, so he's in charge of those dinners ;)

And an old favorite, at-home lunch: my warmed Joseph's pita with sautéed peppers and onions and 93% lean beef with taco seasoning.

Drinking...

water! This is obvious, but I posted a little pic on IG the other night about water. A lot of people find it hard to drink "enough" water on a daily basis. Well, I play games with myself in order to get my water in. For example, sometimes in the morning, I will fill my Blender Bottle with water and not let myself have a coffee until I drink the whole bottle of water first. Or, I will not let myself do things (like get up off the couch, go anywhere, etc) until I drink the whole bottle. I am better at drinking a lot at a time than just sipping all day, so this works for me and helps me get enough water into my body. Most days, I have drink over half of my goal before I even leave for work in the morning. This is why I sometimes have to use the bathroom at Cumberland Farms on my way to work (which is 15 minutes away haha). Then, I have my iced coffee at school up until lunch, and don't really focus on pure water again until I leave school- I've got a little routine going, and it helps!! I notice a major difference in my training and recovery, my sleep, how I feel when I wake up, my skin, my digestion, my energy levels, and more when I meet my water goal each day!

Watching...

vlog after vlog after vlog! I'm OBSESSED with two video blogs in particular: fitgirlmoves and megsquats. These girls are powerlifters who are seriously inspiring to me. I honestly learn a lot from them, admire them, and actually feel like SOMEONE gets me when I watch their vlogs! I definitely try and channel them and their strength when I am lifting every day. When I am walking, I have lots of time to catch up on their latest posts (and old ones I haven't watched) and it makes the time fly by.

 Building...

chest muscles and LEGS! They work so hard for me and seriously get bigger every day. I love them and I love looking like a lifter (despite some really creepy encounters, but that's a post for another day!)

Anticipating...

our new bathroom!! Remember how I ripped our bathroom walls off last summer? Well next week, the whole thing is being gutted and remodeled and I can't wait! It's all going to be white- everything is being replaced to fresh, new, clean shiny stuff. I can't wait to finally have the white marble tile floor I've been dreaming of, and for our house to finally feel complete! (I'll show you pictures when it's all done!)

Have a great night and I will see you Tuesday with a training update (spoiler: it's going great :)

"do you compete?" + training this week so far
