pack • lift • rest

That's what has been going on around here lately. I got a cold late last week, which drove me nuts because I hate not feeling like my normal self! So, I have been focusing a lot more on resting this week, which feels good, but is hard for me at the same time. By resting, I mean lifting and working, but that's pretty much it. It's hard for me to not go to yoga every day because I love it so much, but it's also important for me to realize that recovering from my powerlifting training is my priority. I also know that my yoga practice is more than simply being on my mat, it really is my whole life.

I was also surprised about how hard it was for me to pack up my favorite pretty things the other day! I have no problem throwing stuff I don't use or need away, but putting things I love in a box and taking them out of the house was kind of sad (it's being stored until April, which I'll tell you about soon!!!) Anyways, I spent most of Saturday packing, organizing, and planning this big move!

When Mike got out of work, we went and bought a beautiful, giant new bed and went to dinner, which was nice and made me very happy. Does anyone else love eating dinner at a ridiculously early time like me? We were at the restaurant at 5:15, which is my ideal dinner time, but I realize that seems so early. We go to bed early and wake up early, so an early dinner just works for us! Plus, we have time to just sit and relax afterwards and still get to bed early. #oldlady

Sunday morning, we headed to train with my coach. I had my hardest leg day with a bunch of deadlifts and paused safety box squats. My central nervous system was toast about 2/3 of the way through the session, so my coach actually cut down the end of my workout. 

I headed home, ate, and went shopping for a little bit with a friend. I then vowed to really focus on getting fully recovered from my cold and from the rough training day I had just had so that I could be refreshed for the week ahead.

Mike ended up catching my cold (downfall of marrying an elementary school teacher), so he's been on board with this restful week thing ;) I was so happy to have Monday off, and even the dogs were excited that we weren't up and out of the house like normal! They totally know our schedules and they knew something was different, but they loved it and so did we!

We had some one carb waffles to start off our rest day...

Mike did still have to work, so I went shopping for some new king sized bedding and went to a mid-day yoga class, which felt great after Sunday's leg day.

Have I told you that I am in love with Audible?! It has allowed me to "read" so many more books than I normally would. Year of Yes is incredible and I seriously cannot stop listening. In the car, laying on the couch, any time I'm alone really- I listen. I am so intrigued by Shonda Rhimes and think she is an absolute force to be reckoned with. So much of what she discovered about herself and her life also corresponds with things we are learning and talking about in Baptiste's 40 Days to a Personal Revolution at the yoga studio.

Anyways, the resting has been doing me some good because I had a very hard bench day on Tuesday and a very heavy pause squat day yesterday, and both went better than I expected!
