good morning!

Hi guys! Here's a little bit of what has been going on around here over the past few days! 

Thursday morning started with a long, sweaty run and a shopping spree at 6:15am. That made me pretty happy.

Spinach has made its way into my breakfast salads. These breakfast egg salads are another thing I never get tired of, so that means it's really delicious.

Friday night, I was pretty nervous about the competition I was in on Saturday, so I tried to distract myself by folding laundry, packing for the comp, straightening my hair, and relaxing with Mike.

Saturday morning, it was competition time. I signed up for this competition back in November because it was an Individual comp, which are harder to find than partner competitions. Also, it was focused more on strength than crossfit per say, which is what I like. And lastly, there were weight classes (lightweight was under 150lb, heavyweight was over 150 for women) which I thought would make it more fair than other comps I've been in.

There were 5 events, and I am glad I got the experience of lifting under pressure and having all eyes on me as I did a workout. It was scary, but I did it and kind of just zoned out once the workouts started. 

This was the second event, and my legs were still jello from the first workout of rowing and back squats! 

I ended up getting third place in the comp, which I am really happy about. Another (really nice) girl and I were neck and neck the entire time, and I just barely beat her in the last event- the yoke walk. I love and miss yoke walks, I used to do them a lot at the gym I went to when I first started lifting!

This morning, I hung up my little plaque in my garage gym. I hope people don't see this as me bragging. It's the first time I've competed individually and the first time I've placed in any competition (and possibly the last!), so I'm proud of what I did. I also know that I could've done better!

So now what? Well as you all know/could probably tell, lifting is my favorite thing. I really want to compete against people who are my size, in a much more strictly defined weight class, so I'm going to register for a powerlifting meet! Yikes. I have to pick a federation to register with and compete in, so that's the first step from here. I'll keep you posted :)
