a good week

Tuesday morning's kettle bell workout was great: 7 rounds of 20 catch + release swings and 5 dynamic push ups {for each push up you must explode up and land with both hands on the 45# plates--- guys use 2 plates stacked, girls use 1}. I didn't break up any of the swings and finished in 6:27...

That afternoon, I had Romanian deadlifts 5x3. 5x3 weeks are a lot harder for me than 5x5- the weight is pretttttty heavy. Here are my last four sets of 3 {sped up a bit}... Tough, but I hit my numbers so it's all good ;)ย

Wednesdays are usually rest days for me, but like last week, I was feeling good and fresh. Plus, it was a partner WOD and Mike promised to come with me and do it at 5am, so that made it even more fun.

We could split the reps any way we wanted as long as we tagged out each time we switched, and as long as we completed all the reps of one movement before moving onto the next. Mike rowed 40 cals, then I rowed 30 and he finished the last 30. I went right into the burpees and did 20 or 25, but after that, we split up the reps pretty evenly. My American swings are faster, so I did extra of those- we were smart about it and it was a fun workout with my favorite partner :)

Ruby's new bed came just in time for National Dog Day. She was so excited when I laid it on the floor and immediately sat in it, then stayed on it all night. She loves to be comfy!

Thursday morning's Endurance WOD was 6x800m with 2 minutes of rest between efforts. I was not in the mood to sprint on Page Blvd and wait for two minutes at the off ramp of the highway, so I brought myself to the track at about 5:30am. It was chilly and felt like fall is on its way :( Butttt I had a great workout and felt light, fast, and strong. I also love seeing all the older runners who live nearby and get up early like me to workout!

Then I headed into work for Day 2 of Professional Development. Luckily, this year we have been able to spend these days making centers and instructional materials {rather than sit in lectures/presentations} for our students and it makes the days fly by so fast! My dishwashing station in my classroom saves me a lot of time when I get home and have to meal prep for the next day!

After school, I headed straight to the box to do my push presses. I posted a little video on IG if anyone wants to check that out. It feels pretty good to be pressing more than my own bodyweight overhead for reps!

Yesterday morning's workout was a weird one that wasn't really "hard", it just burned your muscles right out with all the ring dips.

I did 4 rounds with no band for the ring dips, then added the red band because those ring dips got me :/

After another super productive day at school, I went home, hung out with the dogs, then headed back to the box for my back squats and a little coaches' meeting. My new squat position makes 5x3 at 225# seem not so heavy, which is pretty awesome. But that also means that I need to add weight next time, which scares me haha.

It was a good week. There is nothing like that end-of-Friday feeling where you feel like you worked really hard and accomplished a whole lot :)

Have a great weekend <3
