Hi!

Welcome to my blog where I give you a peek into how I live my healthy, happy life!

loads of videos + why i am so relieved

Happy Friday, people! It's been a very busy week around here because I have been spending my days covering at the box. It's been great, I've been able to work more closely with a bunch of athletes, as well as get my own training and skill work done during lulls in the action.

I met one of my goals of stringing two muscle ups!!! Getting my first {7!!} muscle ups in March during the Open was something I never thought I'd be able to do. Then, once I did, I realized that it's real scary up there at the top and I could never imagine dropping down and getting ANOTHER ONE! Well, I knew it was time to at least TRY. Yesterday, I decided to try for the first time. When I kind of figured out the dropping out part of it, I realized that I was able to get my hips nice and high for my next MU, so I knew I was close. I tried about 30-40 times and came really close everytime, then I came really close to dying/breaking my wrist/ankle once and got a little freaked out. A couple hours later, I decided that I wasn't going to finish the day without getting two in a row because I knew I was so close. I finally did it and here it is....

Now, doing that consistently is my next goal.

Wednesdays are usually my rest days, but I was feeling very good and it wasn't a crazy crazy WOD. All my EWODs are definitely paying off because this workout felt GREAT- even refreshing!

My new squat position is feeling great too. Today, 5 sets of 5 at 210# felt light-ish. Here is my last set...

Watching videos of myself helps me the most when learning/practicing/tweaking a skill. I've never seen myself do rope climbs until now, so I've got some film to review and a couple things to work on to be a little more efficient with them!

So all summer long, I've had this little worry/stress/anxiety in the back of my mind. I didn't say anything about it because I am really superstitious and totally thought I would jinx myself if I mentioned it! At the end of the school year, I was summoned to Federal Jury Duty!!! The dates were from July 6-September 4... my WHOLE ENTIRE SUMMER!!!

This little paper has been traveling with me for two months now! Can't wait to throw it away :)

Every Friday, I had to call and see if I had to report the following week. As each Friday came, I anxiously called at exactly 7:30am, literally crossing my fingers and praying I wouldn't have to go in. I would get so nervous about every single week! It was hard making plans, but having to say "unless I get called in for jury duty". Last Friday I was the most nervous because I had a major responsibility this week of covering the box and really didn't want to let anyone down. It was like I would get really relieved from Friday to Wednesday every week, but then get nervous and want Friday morning to come so I could find out about jury duty. It sucked.

I know it's my civil duty and lots of people love getting called for jury duty, but not me! A one day service, sure, but two months!?!?! In the SUMMER!!! Well, today I called and I cannot tell you how relieved I felt when the lovely recorded voice told me that my jury service was complete!!! I was supposed to still have to call next Friday, but I guess they cut it short!

Has anyone else been called for Federal Jury Duty???

Well, I hope you have a good weekend!
