Hi!

Welcome to my blog where I share what I eat, how I train, and how I live a happy, healthy life!

new things

First, let's start with some random catch-up stuff!

This pretty flower is the perfect shade of pink. I have no idea how it got so pretty because I have watered it exactly one time in the past month. And it has been super dry around here up until this week, so this is pretty much a miracle flower.

On Saturday, I was totally and completely 100% burnt out from a very full week {I really think it was Friday's field trip that did me in}. I went to yoga to try and make myself feel better, and that was pretty much it for the whole day.

Ruby was fine with just lounging around with me...

On Sunday, I was feeling SO much better! Mike and I went to breakfast and then made a few trips to Lowes {I made 2, he made 3 to be exact}. We got all new windows put in last month, so I wanted nice new blinds for them. I really wanted white wooden plantation blinds, but our windows ended up being too shallow for them, so we ended up exchanging them for these pretty cordless ones that I love. We also got tons and tons of paint because we are getting out house painted!!

Later on, Mike and I went and hit some balls and enjoyed the pretty Sunday afternoon. My golfing position felt really weird and I'm pretty sure it's Crossfit's fault. Also, I set up on the ball the same way I set up on the bar, and if you know me and have seen me lift, you know what I mean ;)

My mom stopped by that night, too, and brought tons and tons of peonies. They are the prettiest things I've ever seen, but 10000x more special than that because they are from my Vovo's plants, which my parents transplanted to their yard.

And now for the **NEW THINGS**. First of all, I officially started a new training plan this week. It's not super different from before, but I'll give you the overview.

Monday

MORNING: Metcon

AFTERNOON: Lift

Tuesday

MORNING: Endurance WOD + Kettlebell WOD

AFTERNOON: Lift

Wednesday:  Rest

Thursday

MORNING: Endurance WOD + Kettlebell WOD

AFTERNOON: Lift

Friday

MORNING: Metcon

AFTERNOON: Lift

The main difference is the lifting 4x a week in the afternoon. Lifting is probably my favorite part of Crossfit, so this new plan makes me really happy. I also like having a scheduled rest day mid-week because I can tell that I need it. I just really like having a very specific plan because I just work better like that!

Monday's Metcon: Benchmark "Christine" 3 rounds for time of 500m row, 12 deadlifts @ 135#, 21 box jumps.... my legsssss. AND that afternoon's lift was back squats!

Tuesday morning's EWOD: 12 x 100 meter sprints

And a great/terrible KB WOD after those sprints {with some beautiful artwork by my coach!}

Deadlifts on Tuesday afternoon felt great, even on pretty sore legs.

Another new thing is my new nutrition plan. With all my training, I decided it was time to really dial in my nutrition and get the most out of what I eat. Mike and I eat really, really well, but I wanted to kind of fine tune it for me specifically. I got a specialized plan that tells me exactly what and how much to eat at very exact times in order to fuel my training and recovery. Like I said, I like having a plan and following rules, so I am loving it. I'll talk more about this next week after I have more notes to share, but so far, I feel great and can tell that I needed this more focused approach to eating.

And the last new thing, I have a new job for the fall! I'm going to be teaching second grade at the same school I am at now, which is pretty much my dream job. I'm so excited to go back to the younger kids and to be able to really TEACH again, not just test alllllll the time.  Eleven more days!!!

Have a great night!
