Hi!

Welcome to my blog where I share what I eat, how I train, and how I live a happy, healthy life!

murph + i love summer

Remember how the last kettle bell WOD I wrote about was pretty easy??? I knew that would come back to bite me/the rest of the Box in the bum! This one sounded pretty tough, but once I got going, I realized it was actually an awesome WOD!

Between that KB WOD and the EWOD right before it, I was suuuuuper sweaty, but my endurance and energy levels are way up, so I was happy.

Saturday was a big day. Our box honors Lt. Michael Murphy on the anniversary of his death 6/28/05 {or as close to it as posible}. Last year, I had only been crossfitting for about a month, but I watched in awe of everyone suffering to honor Murph and the 18 others who lost their lives that day in Afghanistan

This year, I was scared to death, but I was also prepared to dig deep. I strapped on the 20# weighted vest, and honestly just kept moving and chipping away at the brutal workout. The push ups were the toughest part, which I didn't expect, and then after the last mile run, we did 18 burpees, one for each of the lives lost along with Murph. Those were pretty bad too. I finished in 65 minutes and felt like the tiniest, lightest little feather when the weight vest was finally ripped off of me! Immediately after and for the entire night, I just felt completely wiped out, like I really have it everything I had, which I'm proud of. Until next year, Murph...

On Sunday, Mike and I were in recovery mode and headed down to West Hartford to do a little shopping and have lunch. I love Besito so much because it is so authentic, but also because they give you Worry Dolls before you leave.

Now that school's out, I'm trying real hard to be a good wife!! I'm half joking, but really I am trying to do all the things Mike ends up doing during the school year. So the lawn, dishes, cleaning, laundry, everything- I've been getting it done this week so he can just relax when he gets home. Nice, huh!? Maybe he will realize I should be a stay at home dog mom ;)

Working out twice a day means lot of outfit changes {and lots of laundry!} I can only wear bandanas when I lift because my head doesn't move around too much- if I try to wear them any other time, they fall off. Although I do have a lovely friend making me some special ones that will hopefully work for metcons ;)

EWODs have been going well- this was Tuesday's- a pretty easy one- with all the rest on the 100s, I was flying {or at least I felt like it}. I wonder when I will no longer be considered a "beginning runner"? I did run the first mile of Murph in 7:30 with a weight vest on.... hmmmmm ;)

This kettlebell WOD was fun! I finished 7 rounds plus 3 sit-ups in the ten minutes.

I was sweating so much once again.

Then I came home and Bo NEEDED a run! I didn't need a run, but he was going to be ridiculous all day if I didn't take him. It's a 1.5 mile loop we do, and between the hills and all of his rabbit and squirrel sighting, it's not the easiest 12 or so minutes of my life. We were both so hot and exhausted by the end.

Yesterday was supposed to be my rest day, but I did the metcon in them morning. It was a good one with a heavy-ish power clean and tall box jumps plus burpees. It was a good rest day/shakeout WOD.

Later in the afternoon, I got so tired and could tell my body needed some serious rest. Bo was happy to lay with me and relax.

This morning, I've already done two workouts, had two meals, and gone grocery shopping.

Pretty good start to the day! Hope you have a great one :)
