This week kind of flew by, which I am not complaining about at all because now there are 3 1/2 more days of school. Thank the lord.
I started off the week with a 15 min AMRAP of 5 sumo deadlift high pulls, 5 thrusters, and a 500 m row... The row was originally would've been a 400m run, but it was POURING, and rowing made this workout completely suck. It was pretty much all rowing and totally a mental game. I wanted to die the whole time, but somehow I didn't. I kept a pretty steady pace each time I rowed and finished 5 round plus 5 SDLHPs. It was a gross one.
The rain stopped just in time for my EWOD, which was 3x800m runs. Then the KB WOD had over the kettle bell burpees, which made it really *fun*. I finished the 5 rounds in 8:52Rx and my legs were shaking like crazy. Doing the EWODs and KB WODs one after the other is definitely helping my endurance, which feels awesome!
Later that afternoon, it was deadlift time. I know I said it last time, but I really love lifting 4x a week now. I feel like I really need that extra time on the bar, and it's just working out really well.
Wednesdays are supposed to be my rest day, but I was feeling really good that morning and decided that this bodyweight workout was a perfect active rest day WOD. The 80 push ups in the middle were the toughest part, but I really wasn't sore from it at all. This new nutrition plan is also really helping keep my muscles as fresh as possible by fueling them and replenishing them at just the right times with just the right amounts.
After school, I took rest day more seriously by going and getting a mani/pedi. Fresh nails just make me feel so much better for some reason.
Thursday morning, I pretty much did two EWODs in a row because the KB WOD was full of 100 meter sprints.
And the KB WOD:
Lots and lots of sprinting that morning, which actually felt great and I felt as light as air for some reason.
It was also Field Day at school, and I knew from past years that it would completely wipe me out. Standing around the field from 9-2:30 watching twenty 10 year olds and yelling a whole lot does that to you. Bringing my beach chair helped a little, but I was still mentally exhausted. Good thing I had a little helper to carry my chair and set it up at each station!
That afternoon, I could've easily laid on the couch and done absolutely nothing, but I went and lifted and sucked it up! Then I went to bed at 8:00 as Mike cleaned the house and vacuumed around me. Best husband ever!
Friday morning was five rounds of 1 rope climb, 10 deadlifts, and 50 double unders. I scaled up to 185# for the deadlifts and those felt great. The rope climbs also felt great. My rope broke in the middle of round 1 and frayed more and more and more each round :( I love my RPM rope, and I didn't want to switch it out mid workout, so I sucked it up and jumped with billions of fraying wires around me. It felt weird, but I got through it and then immediately ordered a coated cable for my rope- hopefully this will never happen again!
Every day, I bring a whole lot of stuff with me for all the different parts of the day ahead. I felt super organized Friday morning with my coaching clothes, work clothes, three meals packed, two of my drinks, two bins from the basement for my classroom, flowers and a card for my friend.... And then as I got ready for school at the gym, I realized I had no shoes. I wasn't going to wear my Nanos with my dress, so I went to school barefoot and luckily had an old pair of flip flops in my closet on my classroom...
I spent most of the school day cleaning out my classroom and having the kids help me get rid of stuff I don't need next year. I felt much more rested and was excited to go do a bunch of front squats after school. And I was also excited for a delicious dinner out!!
We went to our favorite restaurant and they saved this special drink they got as a sample for me because they know and understand my mermaid obsession! The drink was no bueno, but the label was oh so pretty.
And now I am here and all is well...
Hope you're having a great weekend <3
