it gets my point across

Thursday morning I did my endurance workout  {EWOD} which was 4x400 meter sprints. I am really glad my endurance work is happening in the morning now because it is super hot in the afternoon, so I am happy to get it done early while it is still pretty cool out!

When I finished that, it was time for a lovely kettle bell workout and this time it was an EMOM {every minute on the minute, you have to complete the reps prescribed. If you don't finish them, you just count your reps until the ten minutes are up}. EMOMs get very stressful as the time goes on because you start losing your rest, and if you let it get into your head, it can all go downhill. Luckily, I kept my cool and completed all ten rounds within each minute. I finished my last round with 12 seconds to spare {9:48Rx}, and my shoulders were on fire.

My new nutrition plan is going great! I have to label all of my containers of food with the time I need to eat it and what to eat with it. It helps keep me organized while I'm prepping my meals and when I am rushing around trying to eat at school. Good thing I have lots of sticky notes {and lots of Tupperware!}

Thursday afternoon was 5x5 shoulder press and I felt good and strong even though my shoulders were pretty tired from the KB WOD that morning.

Friday morning was a good Metcon. 15-12-9-6-3 chest to bar pullups and clean and jerks. Lots and lots of lats and shoulders! The Rx weight for girls was 95#, but my coach had me scale up to 110# for this one. I went slower than I normally would have, but I was happy to be working on my strength and power with a high volume and heavier weight. My chest to bar pullups felt the best they ever have, too, so I was happy about that.

Saturday morning was finally BEACH TIME! Mike and I have been really busy, but now that it's unofficially officially summer, I'm excited to get down to the Cape as many weekends as possible.

The dogs certainly like this plan!

Three thirsty pups were happy to share the water bowl!!

This picture just makes me extremely happy for some reason...

So, while we were at the beach, I had Mike take my picture and I realized that I make him do that a lot {he does not mind!} I found some of the pictures I've had him take over the past year and when I put them together, I realized a couple of things. The first thing is that I guess I have a signature pose.

And the second thing I realized is how much I have changed without really thinking much about it. Here is what I realized over the past year, and hopefully some of you have learned this for yourselves, or maybe it will just help you think about things a little differently. Here it goes:

It doesn't happen overnight. There is no quick fix, secret trick or "pin-able" workout. It happens when you work hard, every single day, because that's what you love to do. It happens when you make permanent lifestyle changes and look at the big picture. It happens when you are so busy chasing goals that there is no other option than to be the healthiest version of yourself. It happens when you only put things into your body that are going to make you feel your best. I felt great in all of these pictures, but definitely feel my strongest and healthiest now. With an even more focused approach to nutrition now, I'm excited to see what will happen! So far, I'm happy with how I'm feeling and looking...

Sorry for all the bathing suit pics, but I feel that it helps me get my point across!!
