Hi!

Welcome to my blog where I share what I eat, how I train, and how I live a happy, healthy life!

Hi guys! I thought I'd pop in with a little mid-week post... I'm pretttttty happy there are only two more days until the long weekend!!!

Monday started my schedule of extra early workouts before coaching at 6am! Waking up at 4 is weird, but I am definitely a morning exerciser, so I've gotta get it done then! We did the Masters Regionals WOD #4... Oh my gosh, it was hard!! 21-15-9 of 185# deadlifts, box jumps, and handstand push-ups. A lot of 21-15-9's are relatively quick, and once you're through the 21's things start looking up, but not this one for me! The deadlifts and box jumps were no problem- the deadlifts did feel a lot heavier than 185# by the end, but they were fine, really. It was the handstand push ups that just smoked me! I'm good for like 10... then I do sets like 3, 2, 2, 3, 1... haha maybe you can relate!?

My 5x3 shoulder press on Tuesday was just ok. I am trying to go off of 110# for my numbers, in hopes of getting a 1 rep max of 105. Ive noticed that whatever I go off of for shoulder press, my max ends up being five pounds less than that, so I'm hoping it works this time. I got 95x3, then went for 100 and only got it once, then went back to 95 and got it for 3, then tried 100 again and got it once. Grr. {And sorry if this is boring to you, but I use this blog as a workout journal as well and look back pretty much every time I lift to see how I did and felt the last time!!}

The kettle bell WOD made up for my just-ok lift. 10 minutes of American Swings and hand release push ups! Ok! My shoulders definitely felt every rep of this one after Monday's WOD, but I finished 7 rounds plus 20 swings.

When I got home from school yesterday, I was excited to see this box in the door...

But then I realized that it was for Mike and thought about how I have really taught him well.

Once I walked in the house, this guilty guy tried to look all innocent.

Mike stopped home mid-day and found that Bo had eaten the two chicken breasts that were thawing in the sink!! We thought it was deep enough where he wouldn't get them, but I guess we underestimated his lanky-ness and launching skills! Lesson learned, and I kind of won because Mike went and got us salmon for dinner which was way better than the chicken we were going to have :)

After our walk last night, I freaked out because I was looking at Ruby and thought her belly and insides of her hips looked really dark.

I thought maybe she was bruised from Bo pushing her over with his nose when they play, but he really goes for her neck most of the time. Then I started googling... BAD idea. Lymphoma, kidney failure, internal bleeding, all kinds of diseases, call the vet ASAP... all I could think was that she was going to die. Then I started looking at pictures of other puggles and noticed that a lot of them have darker skin in that area too. Under Ruby's armpits is very dark, and under her little cowlicks on the back of her legs you can see dark skin too. So I convinced myself that she is ok and must just look like a cow underneath her fur with light and dark patches {or maybe she has been laying out in the sun too much?!} Anyone else have a puggle or know anything about this?

Ok, back to Crossfit.  This morning was quite the wake up WOD...

I can do muscle ups {well, I did 7 in the Open and 1 today after the workout}, but I was definitely not going to attempt them-especially this many- in the middle of this chipper. I subbed those out for chest to bar pull ups, which were pretty hard after the first sets of burpees and snatches! On the second set of snatches, I was mostly focused on trying to hold onto the bar because my grip was shot. The last 20 burpees were pretty terrible on very very tired legs and shoulders. I finished in 9:23 and was glad it was over relatively quickly!

I wore a black dress to school today and seriously felt weird not being in my bright colors and Lilly patterns. I had to brighten things up a little, though, with my headband and sandals {the sandals are more green than yellow in real life--- I think!}

And a little something to think about {from Kenny Chesney}. It's easy to complain about things in life sometimes, but the bottom line is that we are all just lucky to even be here. Today, one of my high school classmates passed away, and it stopped me in my tracks and made me think. I guess this is just a reminder to make sure you think a little more about just how lucky you are <3
