Hi!

Welcome to my blog where I share what I eat, how I train, and how I live a happy, healthy life!

you DO have the time

you DO have the time

Saturday morning we were up and off to our competition!

It was such a fun day with some of my favorite people, and it was for an amazing cause- Make a Wish Foundation.

The highlight of the WODs for me was my 10 rep max front squat from the ground {had to clean it up}. I got 160# for 10 which is more than I was hoping for, so I was very happy!! The whole competition was just full of great people who were there for the right reasons. One of our judges was the most incredible lady, completely motivating and helpful and inspiring, she made me want to work hard for her and I didn't even know her! She definitely left a lasting impression on all of us and inspired me as an athlete and make me think about myself as a new coach.

That day was also our 4 year anniversary!  We have come a long way in the past four years, and I just love our little life <3

On Sunday, we got up and went for a nice shakeout run. Mike is a good runner, and he pushed me a lot through the hills on our loop. We kept a really good pace the whole time and were both pouring sweat. It felt great!

Then we headed to my sister's for Mother's Day and when we came home, we got ready for the week and Mike made me an awesome Sunday dinner.

Monday morning's workout was great! After a ton of squats, wall balls, rowing, and box jumps on Saturday plus our Sunday run, I wasn't sure about how my legs would do on this one. They were fine and I just worked right through the tiredness. The weight for the cleans was 95# for girls, 135# for guys. {My coach drew me a beautiful, "buff" mermaid.... my kind of mermaid!}

When I got home from school, I had to finish the online portion of a CPR class I am taking at the end of the week. It was so hard and it took me more tries than I will admit to complete the final and required "mission" effectively. God help you if I have to save your life {just kidding, I think it was just doing it virtually that was really tricky, I have no idea how non-tech-savvy people could do this!!}

This morning was a busy one with three little workouts! First, back squat 5x5.  I went off of 250# for my numbers and got 205x5 twice! Last time I only went up to 200# for one set of five I think, so I was real happy this morning. I am getting less freaked out about bigger jumps in numbers between sets, which helps a lot because I don't waste as much energy.

The kettle bell WOD was next and it was a 10 minute AMRAP {as many rounds as possible} of 25 power swings and 50 single unders. The power swings were the tough part, the single unders were a nice little break. I finished 7 rounds plus 11 power swings and my forearms and hands were fried.

My coach posted this picture of Mike and I doing the KB WOD and I love it :)

Then, I decided to do the Endurance WOD this morning with Mike, rather than doing it alone after school when it is 90 degrees! It was 12x200m with 30 seconds rest in between. It was hotttttt even at 8am.

At 8:03, I stood there dripping sweat, disgusting as ever, but feeling better than ever.

By 8:23, I was in my classroom. Sure, my hair was soaked and I had to tie it in a top knot in the parking lot, my face was still red from sprinting, and I started the day sweaty, but it's so worth it to me.

It drives me nuts when people say they don't have time to workout, or that when I have a kid, I won't have time anymore. If it's a priority, you will make time for it, bottom line.
