Hi!

Welcome to my blog where I share what I eat, how I train, and how I live a happy, healthy life!

It's been quite the crazy busy week around here and right now, I finally have the chance to breathe. Ruby isn't too worried about it, though...

Tuesday afternoon, I did the EWOD {Endurance Workout of the Day} which was a two mile run at an all-out effort. I ran it in 15 minutes and my quads got the brunt of it. I used to struggle with breathing when I ran fast, now it's more about my legs hurting {probably because I am in a constant state of soreness}.

Wednesday's workout was fun and full of deadlifts {115#} and wall balls! It was a sprint, and man did those wall balls get to you, especially if you're like me and did Tuesday's EWOD.

That night, I told Mike I needed some serious carbs. He made the best turkey sausage, peppers, and onions, and toasted a nice grinder roll for me. It was exactly what I needed to get ready for back squats early Thursday morning.

Thursday was 5x3 high bar back squat {my favorite} and I was kind of scared of my numbers because they were more than I've ever done for reps. I went off 250# and ended up getting 220# for 3 and 225# for 2. Next time, I will probably skip 220 and try 225 for 3 and hopefully not burn out my legs so much. Here's a video of 220x3 and my 225x2 :) PS my coach is away for two weeks and I don't know how I am going to lift without him!!! I might need to replay these videos and listen to his cues for the next couple of weeks! I seriously have issues....

The kettlebell WOD was a classic one of Russian Swings, ab mat sit-ups, and hand release push ups. I finished 7 rounds in the 10 minutes.

My coach likes shoe pictures as much as I do ;)

That afternoon, I went back and coached for real for the first time! I ran some athletes through their re-test of a baseline WOD they did a month ago for their Whole30 challenge. Then I mostly ran the kettlebell WODs while another coach ran the back squats, but I did coach a heat of those as well! It was fun and exhausting and I loved it!

From lifters to pineapples...

Friday morning had a couple of "firsts" for me. The coach I will be taking over for in a couple of weeks needed me to cover from 6-8am, so it was my first time really coaching during what will be my normal shift. I knew I had to workout, though, because I wasn't going to want to after school. I was just so tired from the week. So I decided to get there for 5am and workout beforehand. Well, this meant getting up at 4, which was another first for me, but will be happening most Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at least until school is out. And it was also my first time doing "Grace". Thirty clean and jerks for time. I wasn't sure how I would feel working out earlier than normal, but it was ok. I don't think I warmed up/woke up as much as I should have, so that's something to work on. I finished Grace in 3:15, which was also ok. I was hoping for 3 minutes or less, so I may try it again soon a little differently and see how it goes! I was just proud of myself for actually getting up and functioning.

I love the whole album, but Zac Brown's "Castaway" is definitely the most played song in my car. Blasting it on my way into the school parking lot on Friday morning felt great. Imagine how good it will feel in 38 more school days.

After school, I had to go home and just rest. I was completely and totally shot. Mike came home and luckily understood that I couldn't go anywhere or do anything at all. Except enjoy a nice vodka and soda water while watching Jeopardy and Bar Rescue. Crazy Friday night!!

This morning, I felt MUCH better and headed to the Box to do Thursday's EWOD and yoga. I had just enough time to run before yoga started, so it worked out perfectly. I was moving pretty quick with my 4x800s, and I definitely felt pretty terrible halfway through each one, which I guess is the point ;)
