Hi!

Welcome to my blog where I give you a peek into how I live my healthy, happy life!

a long one!

a long one!

Sorry guys, this is a pretty long blog post, but I guess a lot has happened in the past six days! Next time, I won't wait so long to write!!

Saturday

Saturday was just a good day around here. It started off nice and slow until I headed to yoga at the Box. Lululemon finally has some bright Boogie Shorts out, so I was all over those :)

I decided that was all I would do at the Box because it was way too beautiful out and I wanted to go have a fun day with the dogs. We played outside until Mike came home, then we headed out on a hike and took the dogs for their first swim of the year {and Bo's first swim ever!}

image.jpg

He LOVED the water, jumped right in and went crazy. Mike was happy because Bo loves to play ball, swim, run, and he's being such a good boy!

I also made this sign earlier that day for my newest niece who will be arriving in October!  Isn't it so cute!? It's the perfect size to hang over a doorway and it will be perfect in her nursery.

To finish off a great day, our friends took us out to dinner at our favorite restaurant to celebrate our wedding! They just had a baby right before our wedding, so obviously couldn't make it to St. John, so it was really nice to get to hang with them for a night and catch up!

Sunday

Very early on Sunday morning, I headed out to Weymouth to pick up my sister and we got in line at Target at about 7:35am. I'm glad we did because the line tripled after we got in it! I sent this picture to my brother in law and he said we missed the yoga pants memo... The one day I am not out in public in crops or boogie shorts!

image.jpg

As soon as they opened the doors, it didn't matter where we were in line because these crazyyyyy ladies came barreling through and taking entire racks of everything and throwing them in their carts. My tiny sister was way more aggressive than me {I do everything to avoid this kind of "Black Friday" "Pink Sunday" crazy stuff and I was not mentally prepared to fight- I really just wanted to see what the stuff was like in person!} She ended up staying in the Women's section while I headed to the Toddlers and Housewares sections. It worked out well because she grabbed a couple things for me and I grabbed stuff for her baby, along with beach towels, drink stirrers, a pillow, and dresses for one of our nieces whose birthday is coming up. Then we went and grabbed some makeup bags and watched the crazy people hold a legit auction at the fitting room.

After that frenzy, we went back to my sister's house for her Stella & Dot party. She is a stylist and had a party to show some of their fun new summer line. I ordered these awesome ear jackets and can't wait to get them!

I came home EXHAUSTED. I felt like I was hungover and hadn't slept all night {neither of which were true}, but that day took a lot out of me! I haven't been "right" all week!

That night, I somehow got myself off of the couch and we went over to our friends' house to hang out while they threw a Pasta Party for the Freshman Baseball team! It brought back old memories of Pasta Parties {although this one was much nicer than ones I remember!} It also made me realize that I could never ever ever teach high school!

Monday

Monday morning's workout hurt more than it looked like it would! I finished six rounds plus another rope climb, five push presses, and two sumo deadlift high pulls. I am still sore from that one!

Tuesday

Tuesday was 5x5 back squat day! I went off of 250# for my numbers and completed all of my sets and felt nice and strong! I finished at 5 reps of 200# and was very happy!

The kettle bell WOD was an EMOM {Every Minute on the Minute} of Russian Swings. I wrote the reps for each minute on the ground, but only finished the 8th minute of 40 swings, then I did another 49 swings until the ten minutes were up. That was a rough one because all of a sudden, at about the sixth minute, things got real hard and it wasn't ever going to get any better until the ten minutes were up!

After the back squats and kettle bell workout, I did the Endurance workout which was 4x100m, 2x400m, and 4x100m. It flew by and was actually not too bad--- the 400s hurt a little because I was going fast and finished them in under a minute and a half each.

Now to completely change the subject, Mike and I made some nice, refreshing updates to the house recently! First off, I filled the beautiful planter my friends at school gave me for my wedding with some pretty daisies...

Mike got us a really nice new fridge and I am SO excited to finally have an ice maker!!! I use A TON of ice, so this is going to make my life a whole lot easier!

We also found some new chairs for the kitchen table and updated the little dining nook. I love how cozy it feels {finally!}

A couple of weeks ago, we got a new rug that Mike *finally* loves. Kind of crazy to get a new dog and a new rug at the same time, but luckily Bo is totally house trained, so it was fine. Mike likes dark stuff, I like light stuff, and I think we have finally figured out a compromise in our decorating styles :)

My dad came over for dinner and to meet Bo on Monday night {My mom's down at the Cape house all week}, and he loved all of the updates just as much as we do!

Wednesday

Yesterday, I led two athletes through On-Ramp in the morning as my coach observed me. It was fun and a little nerve wracking because there is just a lot to think about, and like with teaching, when you know you're being watched, it's harder to just be yourself and do your thing at first! It went very well, though, and tomorrow is my last day of doing that, then I am ready to coach!

Instead of doing the metcon, I worked on my double unders with my new jumprope. I bought the Rx JumpRope awhile ago, and I wanted to love it. I tried really hard to love it and even bought four different ropes for it to keep trying it! I realized that I just really like lighter, thinner handles that I can hold onto very lightly. I decided on the RPM Fitness Speed Rope 2.0 after trying one very similar to it at the Box. Well, I really do love it. I have a competition coming up in a couple of weeks and there are a lot of double unders, so I am working on consistently stringing together sets of 50. I did ten sets yesterday and recorded how long each one took and how many times I messed up. I was happy to get fewer and fewer mess ups as I went on and I even did three sets without messing up at all! Practice, practice, practice! This new rope is pretty awesome, though, and I'm going to be working on these every day!

There's also a video I posted on my Instagram page yesterday, but I can't get it to post here! If you want to check it out, I'm @liftinginlilly on IG :)

Bo likes to randomly steal things off the counter or from around the house and bring them into the living room. Sometimes he chews them, sometimes he doesn't. When I came home yesterday, he had chewed the top of one of our lunch containers up. Here he is trying to apologize by licking my eyeball.

Thursday

This morning, my legs were still so sore from Monday and Tuesday, but I knew I had big numbers to hit for my 5x3 deadlift. I'm going off 315# and got up to 285x3 this morning!! It was definitely my 3 rep max, and I couldn't lift any more after that! Seeing 285# written on the ground scared me a lot {my 1 rep was 290# about 8 weeks ago!} But I just thought of that as my one job to do at the gym today, and I *had* to get it, so I did.

image.jpg

Then it was time for a different type of kettle bell WOD. 5 minutes of double Turkish Get-Ups, a 1 minute plank, then Tabata Ab-Mat sit ups! That means 20 seconds working, 10 seconds rest for 4 minutes. Your score is your lowest number of reps. I tried to hang on to getting 12 per round, but couldn't, so my score was 11.

My coach wanted in on my picture for the blog- he's a big lifting in lilly fan!

I was so tired after that hard work {thank god it's vacation week} so I came home and had more coffee and eggs to refuel myself! This week makes me so so so ready for summer vacation {43 more school days :/ }

Mike and I have a very fun tomorrow coming up, so I'll be back to tell you all about it this weekend!  Hope you're having a great week <3
