This week marked the end of the latest strength cycle: deficit deadlift, push press, and front squat. Last week, I got a big PR of 290# on my deficit deadlift, and this week I finished up with two more small-ish PRs.
For push press on Tuesday, I got 140# and for my front squat on Thursday, I got 205#. Im happy with those numbers and ready for the new strength cycle! I'm even more excited to have the kettle bell WODs back this week (no KB WODs are programmed during 5x1 weeks).
On Tuesday afternoon, it was really gross and rainy, so I did the endurance workout as a row and rowed 10x200 meters. I gave it my all and got faster (+ angrier) with each interval, sweat a lot, and felt great when it was over :) Thursday wasn't so nice out either, but when I got to the box, my friend Kelli was there and ready to do the workout too, so we did it together (thank goodness because I would've been dragging without her! I was pretty tired and not really in the mood, but knew I just had to do it). The workout was run 1 mile, rest 5 minutes, run 1 mile. The point was to go fast and push yourselves, and our first mile was 7:38 and then we kind of wanted to die and decided to slow down a little for the next one. We did the second in 8:10, which was still pretty speedy (at least for me!) Hopefully it will be nice and sunny this week and the endurance workouts will be a little more enjoyable :)
Some days I am just way more hungry than others, and Tuesday was one of those days. I ate all of the food Mike had packed me by 9:30am...
Food seriously rules my life these days as I am pretty thoughtful about what I need to fuel me best. The thought of not having any quality food available for the rest of the school day put me right over the edge. My mom and Mike both offered to bring me something, but I ended up being able to sneak out at lunch, thank goodness.
Friday's workout sounded simple- those are the ones that are usually the worst.
The first couple of sets of handstand push-ups felt good and strong actually, but after that, I was doing mostly two at a time, and sometimes singles. It was tough, but a good one!
Yesterday I spent the morning at a friend's baby's first birthday party and then headed to the box for a little seminar about competing. After all of that, I was very ready for happy hour, and luckily, Mike never says no to happy hour.
This Cranberry Lemonade Mojito was so refreshing and such a good treat! It reminded me of my favorite drink, the "Ruby Red Relaxer" of ruby red vodka, a splash of lemonade, and soda water. They both taste like summer.
After that, we stopped at Macy's to look for a couple things and I found (and fell in love with) these amazing sheets!
I am slightly obsessed with mermaids, flamingos, and pineapples- I'd say those are my top 3 favorite things, so I had to get these sheets. Mike and I got into a little argument because he thought we didn't *need* them, but I convinced him we really did and then I saw that they were 50% and that was the end of that. Then we headed to our friend's house to celebrate him getting engaged yesterday and it made me think about how our engagement was pretty much the most exciting thing in my entire life.
We were up early today and Mike made our yard look amazing while I cleaned the house really well and making everything feel nice and fresh. Look how cute our bed looks with the new sheets!
We are all prepped and organized for the week and to me, nothing feels better than that! Have a great night!
