Hi!

Welcome to my blog where I share what I eat, how I train, and how I live a happy, healthy life!

snow day, soul crusher, snatches + squats

Monday was a snow day and I was sooooo happy about that because I was pretty tired from the busy weekend I had! Mike and I decided to go workout as soon as we were up, ready, and shoveled out for the first time because we didn't know how long the Box would stay open. I had to put some pants on to go out in sideways snow.

Linen lighthouse pants, though....

I worked on my snatches and tried to put some of what I learned over the weekend in the USAW cert to good use!

I felt good and strong and loved how peaceful it was that morning. There was no place else I would've wanted to be...

Tuesday was strict shoulder press and I definitely wanted to go up in weight since during this strength cycle, I did 90x3, then 90x5...

So I ended up getting 95x3 twice, and I'm hoping that when we do out 5x1 next week, I will not only get 100, but 105#. I feel like my shoulders and entire core are just so much stronger and more solid with all of the Oly work I've been doing... Loveeee it!

The kettle bell WOD was wayyyy hard mostly because of the push ups! They were intense!

I woke up on Wednesday and kind of thought this had to be a joke...

Or a partner WOD!? Nope. It was as horrible as it sounds. The worst parts for me were the knees to elbows and the burpees. They were just never ending. Soul crushed.

I was super happy to get the email saying that I had passed the USAW Sports Performace Coach exam! I printed out my little coaching card at school and laminated it to feel extra official. My lifting partner/coach/friend and I ended up coaching Barbell Club on Wednesday night, so we put our new titles right to work. It was my first time coaching anything ever, and it felt a lot like student teaching! I loved it and can't wait to improve my coaching skills as well as my own skills as an athlete!

I had to take a picture of my pretty juice that had separated. The stuff at the top is spirulina, which I am loving in my juices and in my little carob + spirulina energy bites. Spirulina is a blue-green algae that is packed with protein, iron, and all eight essential amino acids, and tons and tons of vitamins. It is considered one of the world's most complete super foods!! It tastes so good in my green juice, too.... I'm addicted.

Maybe it is the spirulina that helped me squat this morning! I've been having issues with my back squats since my last 1 rep max in August {230#}... Things have just been feeling heavy, I've been mentally giving up as soon as they felt heavy, and whatever else.... I wanted my numbers to go off of 240#, but last time I did 5x3, it wasn't happening. I got 205, which was 10 pounds less than I wanted and I was frustrated.

Today, I got that 215# that I wanted... twice! And the second time, I fought real hard for my last rep, and I knew that I am a mentally different athlete now.

Here is a little video of my last set of 3 at 215#.... I love my coach so much, I swear I could never do this without him!!

The kettlebell WOD was a good one {like always}, and I think I am getting better at mentally pushing through those as well :) It was a real good morning at CFJ.

This afternoon, I went back and did a bunch of mobility work. Normally, I would've done the Endurance WOD, but I am so sore that I couldn't pull the rower if my life depended on it. My lats are the most sore they've ever been thanks to yesterday's crazy 50s chipper- I could barely wipe the tables in my classroom today without crying!!! Any tips for getting rid of this soreness ASAP!?!

I hope you're having a great week!!
