a couple PRs + betting on WODs {happy v day}

Monday

For some reason, Monday feels soooo long ago now! I guess between stress at school, snowy/horrible/depressing weather, and being busy every second of the day can make a few days feel like forever.

Monday was a WOD that made me mad at myself. The hang power cleans, sprints, and burpees literally felt like nothing- like they weren't even happening. The push ups were another story- and they were really the whole WOD. To be considered Rx, you had to push up and clap your hands to your chest and then back to the floor. I tried a few and I could do them, but did not feel like I could do 100 of them without either breaking my wrists or smashing my face into the ground. So I did regular push ups, but at the top of each rep, I hit one hand at a time to my chest. It felt extremely hard because I had to hold my body up longer than normal {and with one arm} to do it. I never went to my knees, but I was still mad that I didn't Rx this one. I finished in 12:49.

Tuesday

Tuesday was 5x1 deadlifts! I did not sleep for one whole second on Monday night because I was thinking so much about this lift!! Then every hour that went by stressed me out more because I knew that with no sleep, my body would definitely not perform the way I wanted it to. It's a vicious cycl!!

Somehow, even with zero sleep, I hit my numbers. My last 1 rep was 280# about two months ago, and my coach wanted me to get 290# this time...

It felt good! Definitely a 1 rep max! Then, I was so excited and didn't follow directions and drop down to 80%, I dropped to 90%, so that will get me stronger too hahah. This next strength cycle is deficit deadlifts, which will help my regular deadlift go up for sure, so I really can't wait to hit 300+!!!!

Wednesday

I pretty much loved Wednesday's workout.  I knew I *had* to beat Mike this time because a couple weeks ago when it was a similar workout, he beat me and I wasn't going to let it happen again! I went into it thinking that it was only 12 minutes and no matter how much it hurt or how badly I couldn't breathe, I had to suck it up and keep going. And I did...

My legs paid for my intensity with the snatches, but it's ok :)

Thursday

I was all set on getting a new shoulder press 1 RM of 105...

But, it didn't quite work out like that. I got 100#, which is a PR. Last time we went for our max, I tried three times for 100 and couldn't get it. This time, 100 went up easy, but I tried three times for 105 and couldn't do it. It was frustrating, but this made me feel better and realize that I should be happy with my 100#.

Thursdays are one of my rest days from olympic lifting, but I went back and did some of the endurance workout. I only did 2/3 of it, the 2000 meter row and two 500s. Then I worked on my double unders and trying to be more relaxed in the shoulders when doing them. I tense up so much and it makes it really hard to be consistent with double unders when I am exhausted in a WOD, so I am trying to work on that!

Friday

I thought for sure Mike would smoke me in this workout, mostly because of the row and burpees {he's usually faster at them both}, so right before we started, I didn't think much of it when he said he would give me $100 if I beat him. Well, during each round, he would get off the rower before me, but then I would catch up and beat him on the Sumo Deadlift High Pulls, and I thought maybe I would actually beat him and win $100!! In the third round, he decided to stop sandbagging so much and we got to the burpees at just about the same time, and he just went all out to save himself the money I think! Once he was clearly going to beat me, I slowed down a little because my legs were barely working. The end.

I think we should bet on WODs more often, though, because it does make it pretty interesting!

After school, I headed back to do my Oly work before we headed over to my parents' for dinner. I made this little high speed video this morning to show you guys just a tiny bit of my Olympic lifting technique work that I do.

Yesterday and last night, I could feel myself starting to get sick a little. My throat was feeling scratchy and I was just not right, so today has been all about preventing it from turning into a real sickness!!!

i hope you had a great week and are having a happy v-day! I am so happy that I have this guy as my forever valentine!!!
