back to last thursday...

Last Thursday morning was an Endurance workout for me and a kettle bell WOD like usual. I headed to the treadmill to run (BTW, I have found that I definitely run faster on the treadmill- watching numbers is super motivating for me). Then I came back to the garage for my KB WOD. I was a real sweaty mess by the end of all of that... Oh, and Mike joined me for some of my toes to bar just to show me that he is way better at them than me ;)

That afternoon, I had a snatch complex programmed. I am happy to be back doing Oly work, but it does take so long. Even though I'm only doing one complex twice a week, they take quite awhile between the warm up and the work itself. Then, I do some variation of squatting afterwards, so these end up being my longest afternoon sessions.

And guess what... Friday's Metcon was all snatches. 50 of them! I was happy that I had gotten some good snatch work in throughout the week, it definitely helped me in the workout. I did not go fast, just worked on good form and not failing. This was also a mental workout, chipping away at 50 full snatches. A slow 16:29 Rx for me.

Friday afternoons are supposed to deadlifts, but I think I am going to have to switch those to Saturdays after my runs. I end up staying really late every Friday at school and getting EVERYTHING ready for the following week. It's so helpful and I feel super on top of things, but by the time I get home, Mike is already home and wants to go do something, or at least just relax with me.

So anyways, Saturday morning, I had a 3 mile tempo run to do and it was very nice out, so I decided to take Ruby with me. She is such a good little runner, it is crazy. The run ended up being 3.8 miles because we had to get home, and we finished in exactly 30 minutes. That is with 4 bathroom breaks for Rubes- she gets so excited, she can't even handle it! I was a little mad at her, though, because she literally does NOTHING all day every day, yet she can still run longer and faster than me.

After that, I went and did a bunch of errands, stopped at the juice bar, and just got our house cleaned up a bit while Mike was at work.

Then, I finally did my deadlifts- double bodyweight 5x5... felt hard but good!

I *finally* washed my hair, did some work, finished making a sign for a friend, and felt super productive. That night, we went to our favorite place. The bartenders have kind of finally accepted that I don't drink, and really fancified my seltzer this time.

On Sunday morning, I was pretty tight- between the snatches, run, and deadlifts, my lower back was shot. I was ready for my hot yoga class. Unfortunately, it was a new instructor who I just did not love, and I didn't feel the way I always feel after the 90 minutes. So, I'll be going again tonight to practice with an amazing teacher and get what I need out of it.

Here are some random food pictures I snapped over the past few days...

This morning, I did not do our box's programmed metcon because it involved lots of heavy deadlifts and my back is not ready for more right now... But I did do my shoulder press and then worked on my pull ups. I'm trying to learn how to butterfly, but I'm so uncoordinated I don't really know if it's ever going to click for me.

That's all for now! I'm off to yoga TAKE 2 :)
