The dogs are the only ones happy we are home I think. I am definitely in a major "funk" and have lots and lots on my mind these days...
Thursday was Shoulder Press 5x3, and I went with the same numbers I used last strength cycle and went off of 100# for my percentages. So I did 75x3, 80x3, 85x3, 90x3 and 90x3 again. I feel like I could definitely get 95x3, so we will go for that next time. Then we did a real tough kettle bell WOD: 4 RFT of 25 catch & release swings and 10 dynamic push ups. My shoulders were ON FIRE.
Friday morning, I did my Oly workout instead of the metcon that was programmed. I worked on snatches at 70-80% of my max and was sweating up a storm! I finished up with some pressing and heaving snatch balances that lit up my shoulders again.
Mike brought Brutus when he came & he was a very happy "Box Dog" that morning.
That afternoon, I decided to do something I'd been thinking about for awhile...
I am so spur of the moment, sometimes I even scare myself. I just called the tattoo parlor after school and they said they would take me at 5, so I didn't have time to get nervous or second guess myself again haha. I got the coordinates of Trunk Bay on St. John, which is where we got married and it holds an extremely special place in my heart for so many reasons. I LOVE how it turned out and it makes me feel slightly better just knowing that it's there.
Then Mike and I went to dinner & I made him take a picture of me so I could show you how I am the least fancy of all the fancies ever. Yoga crops and dirty crossfit sweatshirts are not appropriate things to wear to nice dinners. Drinking a Cosmo does not make you more put together. I do wear earrings and rings and bracelets though.... Winter and I are really just a sad combination.
On Saturday morning, I got up and got ready to head to New York for a little weekend visit with my friends [again, crops, sweatshirt & slippers as shoes...sigh] I grabbed my favorite green juice and was off to Brooklyn! I have a serious serious addiction to these juices and they make me feel so good- they are magical juices I swear!!
We went to brunch in Brooklyn and then got our nails done at this super cute salon. I loved my flowery chair and all of the decor in the place! And they served me some pretty delicious coffee, which may have just been delicious because it was something warm!
Then we headed to Brooklyn Flea, which was full of such cool stuff that I wanted for no good reason!!
The only things I bought were these two adorable little bowls from a local potter. They will hold tiny little things.
Later on, we headed to dinner at this really good Meditteranean restaurant and thn stopped at my friend Meera's friends' bar to play some Pictionary before bed like three old ladies!! It was really fun, though, and I swear everyone in Brooklyn looks exactly the same.
I got home this afternoon and was just in the mood to sweat. I headed to the globo-gym where I still have a membership for tanning and days like this when the Box is closed and I want to do something I can't do outdoors. I do miss wearing these cute sneakers....
I did a sprinting interval workout of 1/4 mile at a jogging pace [6.5 mph] and then 1/4 mile sprinting [8.5-8.7 mph]. I did 6 sprinting intervals throughout the workout. It all added up to be a 25 min 5k, which is pretty fast for me. I was hot, sweaty, and refreshed, so my goal was accomplished! It was painful watching all the people on ellipticals, treadmills, and bikes leisurely reading and wasting their time.... Grrr.
