Hi!

Welcome to my blog where I share what I eat, how I train, and how I live a happy, healthy life!

Β

my wedding shower!

on saturday, my family threw me the most perfect wedding shower ever {lilly style, of course}

when mike and i got engaged, i immediately told my mom that i did NOT want a shower because we did not need one. we already have a house and obviously all of the items we need to live in our house. also, since a lot of people cannot come to our wedding, i felt bad having them come to a shower for a wedding they wouldn't be attending. my mom said all that stuff didn't matter and that people wanted to celebrate me and mike. well, all i have to say is that i am really happy my mom forced the shower idea, because it was one of my favorite days ever.

everything my mom and sisters did to make the shower "me" was perfect. and i know it was a lot of work, and i am very thankful for all that they did! the adorable lilly print my sister made, customized napkins, monogrammed table settings, engagement pictures spread around the house, fun and unique shower games, great favors, an amazing caterer, making everyone feel like family, i could go on and on and on. it was just a perfect day!

if you know me, you know that i am all about mermaids, wish bracelets, monograms, pineapples, and pretty much everything else that was part of my shower.

a cute game "who has the groom" had people laughing as there were pictures of our dogs, my dad, and lots of really random celebrities thrown into the mix!

mike came while i was opening presents, stole a kiss, and almost dropped an entire place setting of our china!

i am so happy and lucky to be part of this family right here. and i am happy that my dad wanted to stay and help do everything during the shower from wash all the dishes to chat with my friends- really shows what kind of guy he is to all of us girls <3

isla may or may not have thought it was the real wedding day- she was so cute and excited for us, i loved it!

ruby did not share isla's enthusiasm!

we stayed at my parents until about 9, and when we got home and mike filled the kitchen with all of our gifts, i got a second wind of energy and put everything away! we really got spoiled and received so many beautiful things, i was pretty overwhelmed! mike kept asking me where it was all going to go, and i told him not to worry because i had a plan. everything new was taken out and put away, while the old stuff it was replacing was put in the same box the new stuff came in and brought out to the garage {yes, i did all this from 9-11pm and was sweating and had to shower afterward!} we are going to have a tag sale and sell all of our old housewares, and then donate eveything that is left. it was the *perfect* system. mike was pretty impressed {i have a feeling he was doubting me!}

yesterday, i ate my pulled pork off of our beautiful china, but mike ate off of our pottery barn plates because he still can't be trusted after the close call at the shower ;)

my family got us all of our beautiful, comfortable, very grown-up-feeling bedding, and i am obsessed. our bed is now the comfiest, coziest bed of them all.

i also spent most of yesterday under the comfiest blanket on earth, drinking coffee out of our new mugs, and looking at one of the beautiful shower centerpieces. i'm slightly obsessed with everything right now.

all this neatness and matchy-ness makes me so happy.

and i don't think i will ever be able to stop staring at this gorgeous platter that mike's sister, marisa, had made for us by an artist in sanibel. it is perfect and so thoughtful and unique!!

it was a day i will always remember filled with so many people that i love, and i really can't thank everyone enough for making it that way xoxox
