just take me to the beach

when i last posted, we were on our way to the beach. it was the perfect day!!! we also got pulled over on our way there because mike was driving "aggressively" as he says, and it was the craziest thing because the lady officer came to the window, screamed at mike, and walked away and left. i looked at him and said, "wait, was she wearing a bathing suit?!?!" we both started dying laughing out of relief and the fact that an off duty officer just wanted to yell at mike. fine with us!

on saturday, i went to oly and worked on snatches!! last time, the most i got for a full snatch was 83#, this time i worked up to 98#.... very happy! i know i can do more than that, too, because i can probably power snatch that, but it's honestly more of getting used to the movement! i love it. i love snatches!

yesterday morning, we did "isabel" which is a benchmark girl wod of all SNATCHES! good thing i love em! 30 snatches of any kind, as fast as you can. i didn't really know how this was going to go, so i only used 73# and finished in 4:53--- i power snatched them all. sooo that means i probably should have used maybe ten more pounds and done more full snatches. next time! it was a fun one, though, and i'm glad to have another "girl" done to improve upon next time.

after that, i headed right to the cape for the day to visit my mom, sisters, nieces, and nephews. it actually wasn't a nice beach day, but of course, we went anyways.

i stopped for a little bit of shopping and sent this picture to mike asking if we can trade the fx for a lilly jeep. i'll let you guess what his response was!

and this morning, we were back at it with back squats and a kettlebell wod!

right after the squats, my coach had me run a mile as part of the competition prep! mike did it with me and pushed me along {which made me kind of want to punch him!!} we ran it in 7:07, which i thought was pretty good right after all those squats!! turns out, running is probably my least favorite thing to do/form of exercise, which really makes me wonder why i "tried" to "be a runner" all those years. ever since i started lifting, and crossfit in particular, it has proven to me that my body doesn't like running and really doesn't respond to it the way i used to want it to. i'm glad i figured that out, but mad that it took me so long!!!

thennnnn, we had to do a pretty tough kettlebell wod that involved these sand bags!

the goal was to finish 3 rounds of this in 10 minutes:

  • 10 turkish get up sit ups (with the kettlebell)
  • 15 hand release push ups
  • 20 ground to over the shoulder sandbags

i finished 2 rounds, plus 15 hand release push ups...

you were supposed to squat down, pick up the sand bag, put it on your shoulder, then flip it off the back of your shoulder, then turn around and do it again {x20}!! i ended up just kind of flinging it right over my shoulder, rather than letting it rest, because i could feel the canvas bag and gritty sand chafing away at my shoulders! it was actually faster, too!

see you tomorrow {no more rest-day wednesdays for us over here ;)}
