a 5k, competition prep & an adventure

friday night, mike and i went to our favorite restaurant to enjoy some of their new fall-ish menu items. i am still in denial about it being fall and was craving the grey goose melon vodka and soda water and almost cried when the bartender said that was just a summer thing. so i went with clementine vodka & soda water, but i am counting down the days until that melon comes back!!!

on saturday morning, i went and ran a 5k with my coach and a couple other people from the Box for stroke awareness. it was cold and rainy, but the run actually felt good and refreshing! after that, i went and worked really really hard at the Box, getting ready for the competition coming up {less than 4 weeks now!} i did one of the WODs all by myself {even though it is a partner comp, my coach wanted to see how much i could do alone} it gave me a lot of confidence, and also made me want to puke a lot. after that, i worked to my 3 rep max for my front squat {which is the first part of the competition} and on the tiredest of tired legs and body, i got 175x3- and then got 1 at 180#. hopefully on competition day, i will have fresh legs and a completely fueled bod and be able to get 185 for 3!! that is my goal :)

when mike got home from work, we headed out on a little adventure...

this gigantic iced coffee helped to fuel me through my exhaustion!

my mom and i took the dogs on this long and pretty trail while my dad and mike worked on the yard. the trail ended up at the beach and it was a gorgeous day! super low tide.
